Qualifications & compliance

Qualification types

Define the qualifications your agency requires and how long each stays valid.

Qualification types are the certifications your agency tracks — for example, Duty Handgun Qualification or Patrol Rifle Qualification. An Admin defines them once under Settings → Qualifications, and they then apply across the roster.

What a qualification type defines

  • Name — e.g., SWAT Operator Qualification
  • Validity period — how many months a passing record stays current (e.g., 12 months)
  • Weapon types covered — which weapons the qualification applies to
  • Required — whether all applicable officers must hold it (drives compliance)
  • Warning window — how many days before expiry to start flagging it (overrides the org default)

How they drive compliance

When a type is marked required, any applicable officer who lacks a current record shows as Expired or None. As records approach the warning window, those officers move to Warning. This is what powers the compliance counts on the dashboard.

Set a longer warning window on high-stakes qualifications so your team gets more lead time to schedule re-qualification.
